BiOrbic is Ireland’s national bioeconomy research centre, supported by Research Ireland.

Our vision is for the bioeconomy to become a cornerstone of national and global economies, fostering sustainable regeneration, resilience and a just future, supporting the planet, communities and industries to thrive.

Project duration can be from 10 months to 4 years, with 12 – 18 months being common for projects with a postdoctoral researcher, and 4 years common for projects with a PhD researcher.

What is the eligibility criteria for projects?

Projects must align with at least one of BiOrbic’s challenges to advance the bioeconomy.

Projects must include an eligible researcher from a BiOrbic partner institution together with an eligible industry partner.
